VRM Heatsink and Thermal Protectors
The two large VRM heatsinks with thermal protectors improve heat transfers from the MOSFETS and coils to improve board cooling performance.

Prime B550s feature the best cooling control settings, configurable via Fan Xpert 4 or our UEFI BIOS.

M.2 PCIe 4.0 (up to 64 Gbps)
The two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots are compatible up to version 22110 and support RAID configurations for NVMe SSDs, resulting in a considerable boost in performance. Create a RAID configuration with up to two PCIe 4.0 devices to experience the fastest transfers with a 3rd Gen AMD® Ryzen™ platform.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
Prime B550s feature multiple connectors including two rear USB 3.2 Gen.2 Type-A ports that support PC setups with multiple peripherals (subject to case compatibility).
Addressable RGB Gen.2 Connector
The Prime B550M-A’s addressable RGB Gen.2 connectors are now able to detect the number of LEDs on 2nd generation addressable RGB devices so that software can automatically customize lighting effects based on connected devices. The new connectors are also backward compatible with existing Aura RGB devices.
